Each year, the Colorado Women's Bar Association Foundation (CWBAF) honors women lawyers who have made a difference in our communities and have "raised the bar" for all of us. The evening promises to be memorable, with attendees gathering in person to celebrate the accomplishments of our honorees and thank them for paving the way for other women in Colorado and around the nation.

Now Soliciting 2023 Nominations! We are now soliciting nominations for our 17th Annual Raising the Bar Dinner, to be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, on the Sundeck of the Denver Athletic Club (DAC).

This year's theme is "Women Who Raise The Bar By Fostering Well-Being In The Legal Profession." We want to honor women who have risen to the top in their efforts to create healthy and supportive work environments in a range of ways. For example, supportive work environments may be characterized by their commitment to inclusion of diverse voices. They may be uniquely focused on helping lawyers to find a balance between work and life outside of work. Or they may be innovative in other ways that support lawyer well-being. Please nominate the heroes in your midst who implement well-being strategies, who model and promote health and wellness, and who take concrete steps to enable lawyers to thrive.

Past honorees are not eligible for the award and can be found here.

Please send your suggestions via email to Wendy Weigler no later than Friday, April 21, 2023. We would appreciate it if, in addition to identifying a potential honoree, you would provide not only the name and contact information, but also some background information on that person's particular qualifications for this award. Even if the person is well known in the community, the Foundation committee members may not know the specific details of the lawyer's accomplishments.

The CWBA Foundation provides an annual scholarship to a law student at both the University of Colorado School of Law and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law who best exemplifies our mission. Previously, the scholarship was $2,500 per year. However, for the five-year period 2016 through 2020, the scholarship amount may vary year to year as we fund an endowed scholarship. For years 2021 and beyond, it is our goal to fund each scholarship at a $5,000 level or above. Click Here to view the requirements for the scholarships and a list of past scholarship recipients on the Scholarships and Grants page. You can donate to the scholarship program on the Scholarships and Grants page as well.

The CWBA Foundation has also funded studies on the wage gap between female and male lawyers in Colorado, co-funded a national study about part-time partnership positions, and much more. Often, the programs funded by the CWBA Foundation are the programs that are put on by the CWBA itself. For example, the CWBA Foundation funded the CWBA’s successful program, Storming the Bench. Please see a partial list of past programs and activities on the “Past Projects and Activities” page.
